Assault Charges for Boston Police Officer

A Boston police officer faces assault charges after an incident in Malden. According to the Globe, a call came in saying that a woman’s husband was beating her. The police did not witness the incident, but later arrested the officer and charged with assault. It if it was his wife he is accused of hitting, he can also face domestic charges.

The officer was placed on administrative leave with pay, which is standard in such cases. Some people complain about civil servants who are accused of crimes but still collecting a paycheck, but it is not fair to take away someone’s income based solely on an accusation.

Police can commit crimes, too. Being a police officer does not place you above the law.

We will follow this case to see what charges and outcomes result in court.
